I use an SDRplay (RSPduo) with an HF antenna and have no trouble decoding any of the digital modes on HF SSB. Virtual audio cables is another option - but I don’t use that. It sounds like a low impedance headphone is loading down a speaker port on the computer. I never ever use the FLDIGI digital squelch. The software setting is always on upper sideband, even on 80m and 40m. RTTY is easy to tune in with FLDIGI, but I rarely use FLDIGI’s AFC and never use any kind of noise reduction or noise blanker with SDR Console. It is rather spectacular to get the FLDIGI modes working and also see a very clear view of the RF spectrum. The audio level for FLDIGI I try to keep at -20dB. I have complete control over what I hear (speakers) or what I feed into the FLDIGI sound card (SignaLink). So the audio going into this second (real) sound card can be independently controlled by both Windows sound panel and by the RX knob on the SignaLink. I usually connect the audio to the SPKR input (mono) on the rear of a typical SignaLink. I then have a 3 conductor audio cable going from the Sony amplifier HEADPHONE jack to a second sound card on the USB port of the desktop. The output of the Sony audio amp can (and mostly does) drive speakers. I have a simple 3 conductor audio cable going from the LINE OUT (stereo) on the computer to the LINE IN on a separate (old Sony) audio amplifier.

The output of the SDR Console goes to my (default) computer speaker port on a Win 10 desktop. I’ve thought about how to get the audio output of SDR Console (3) to the FLDIGI input.
